ในเช้าวันอาทิตย์ที่ 26 ธันวาคม 2547 ท่ามกลางทะเลอันงดงาม ใครเลยจะรู้ว่าคลื่นยักษ์ " สึนามิ " ได้โถมเข้าสู่ฝังอันดามัน นำความโศกเศร้ามาสู่มวลมนุษย์โลก การสูญเสียบุคคลอันเป็นที่รัก การพลัดพราก ความทรงจำที่แสนโหดร้าย ครั้งยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในชีวิต ท่ามกลางมหันตภัย คลื่นได้พัดพาน้ำใจของคนต่างชาติต่างภาษา ให้หลอมรวมเป็นหนึ่งเดียว และจารึกไว้ ณ ที่แห่งนี้

On the serene morning of December 26,2004,
The picturesque sea gave no warning,
Of the great disaster to come.... "TSUNAMI !"

As the giant waves surged ashore,
They brought about great melancholy,
In all human beings.

The bereavement of those beloved the most,
The severance and the cruel memories,
That can happen in one's life.

This greatest of tragedies,
Brought forth compassion and benevolence,
Of people of every language, every nation.

The Inscriptions in this hallowed place
are placed in remembrance of all those
who lost their lives in the Great Tsunami.
